Platform and Cray

Platform has worked with Cray for several years to support joint clients.

Platform has made significant investments and worked closely with Cray to port Platform LSF HPC to Cray’s XT1, XT3, and XD1 architectures. For example, the tight integration with Cray’s “psched” facility provides the most advanced topology aware scheduler available on Cray X1 systems.

Cray Products

·       Cray X1E Supercomputer: The Cray X1E™ supercomputer combines the processor performance of traditional vector systems with the scalability of microprocessor-based architectures. High performance interconnect and memory subsystems allow the Cray X1E system to scale from 16 to 8,192 processors, delivering up to 147 TFLOPS in a single system. The Cray X1E supercomputer and its predecessor, the Cray X1™ supercomputer, are the first vector systems designed to scale to thousands of processors in a single system image.

    ·       Cray XT3 Supercomputer: Building on the success of its predecessors, the Cray T3D™ and the Cray T3E™ systems, the Cray XT3™ system brings astounding new levels of scalability and sustained application performance to high performance computing (HPC). Purpose-built to meet the special needs of capability class HPC applications, each feature and function is designed for larger problems, faster solutions, and a greater return on investment. The Cray XT3 supercomputer scales to support the most challenging HPC workloads.

    ·       Cray XD1 Supercomputer: The Cray XD1™ combines exceptional performance with ease of use and management—supercomputing performance at a reasonable price. Linux x86 based, 32 and 64-bit compatible, the Cray XD1 runs open source codes and ISV applications without requiring complex porting or application recompiling. This high-performance computer has an innovative Direct Connected Processor architecture that embeds both a high speed interconnect and application accelerators to remove major bottlenecks and provide sustained application performance.

    ·       Cray SX-6 System: The Cray SX-6™ series of high-efficiency, high-performance vector supercomputers is available through an OEM agreement with NEC. The Cray SX-6 scalable, parallel vector supercomputers offer superior reliability in a balanced, commercial-quality system.
