Platform Announces Seamless Integration with Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003
TORONTO, June 9, 2006 – Platform Computing, the global leader in grid computing software solutions, today announced the availability of integration between Platform EGO and Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003, Microsoft’s first software offering designed specifically to run parallel, High-Performance Computing applications. Enterprise IT customers can leverage the performance and capacity of both cluster and data center environments with Platform EGO and Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003, which will create a flexible infrastructure to extend high-performance capabilities and allow IT to allocate heterogeneous resources in real time.
Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 employs the power of High-Performance Computing to support companies and individuals that use multiple computers to work on a single project. The system is also designed to run in grid environments in which the completion of batch workloads across distributed, virtualized IT environments is crucial regardless of the operating system being used. Platform EGO enables all of these functions in real-time.
"Platform EGO will become a significant piece of the software stack for grid-enabled companies using Microsoft Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003 as the industry trend towards low-cost cluster solutions continues," said Chris Purpura, vice president, Strategic Alliances and New Ventures at Platform Computing. "With this integration, Platform and Microsoft are providing their joint customers who have cluster and data center environments the tools to dynamically manage their computing capabilities and efficiently allocate resources, while delivering increased agility and control over their environment."
Platform EGO allows companies to distribute computing power within their organizations and shift resources as needed, including a cluster running Windows Computer Cluster Server 2003. The software is used by companies around the world to solve technical computing problems, improve IT efficiency and reduce costs by making use of all IT resources, including desktops and servers.
"The integration of Windows Compute Cluster Server and Platform EGO brings a level of simplicity to High-Performance Computing, delivering a uniform way to manage and distribute the workload over their multiple tiers of resources, from workgroup and departmental compute clusters to enterprise clusters," said John Borozan, group product manager, Windows Server Division at Microsoft Corp. "Drawing on the strengths of both companies, customers can realize a solid return on their infrastructure investments by employing resources at a high level of performance and efficiency."
