Platform Computing Named a "COOL VENDOR" by Leading Analyst Firm
Vendors selected for the "Cool Vendor" Report are innovative, impactful, and intriguing.
Toronto, ON – March 28, 2006 – Platform Computing (www.platform.com), the global leader in grid computing, today announced that it has been included in a list of "Cool Vendors" in the "Cool Vendors in IT Operations Management, 2006", by Donna Scott, Cameron Haight, Milind Govekar, Gartner, Inc., March 9, 2006.
Companies in the 2006 Cool Vendors report were selected as suppliers of intriguing technology in management software focused on root cause analysis and real-time infrastructure. According to the authors of the paper, "Available funding, new technology platforms and increasing complexity, combined with a lack of perceived value with many current management tool investments, continue to act as key drivers for new entrants into the IT operations management software market."
"Companies are under significant pressure to make the most of their IT resources in order to support the strategic objectives of the business. With our unique technology, such as Platform Enterprise Grid Orchestrator (EGO), IT managers can drive increased IT agility through virtualization of their data center resources, thus harnessing all of their computing power in the most efficient way," said Songnian Zhou, CEO, Chairman and co-founder of Platform Computing. "We believe Gartner’s highlight of our pioneering work in enterprise grid speaks volumes about our success to date, and extraordinary potential."
About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process
Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area; rather it is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services. Gartner disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, with respect to this research, including any warranties of merchantability or fitness of a particular purpose.
Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enabling users to do things they could not do before; Impactful, having a significant effect on business (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, capturing Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.
