Enterprise Grid takes Center Stage as Industry Leaders Converge on Brussels for Platform European Grid Conference 2005
Toronto, Canada and Paris, France, October 26, 2005 – Platform Computing, a global leader for grid computing solutions, today announced its Platform European Grid Conference (PEGC) 2005 – the industry’s first enterprise grid conference to be held in Europe. Taking place on November 21-23, 2005 at Le Plaza Hotel in Brussels, Belgium, PEGC 2005 will bring together thought leaders, industry leaders, executives in enterprise IT, and vertical markets experts to discuss the challenges, opportunities and path forward for grid computing technology. Leading sponsors already onboard for PEGC 2005 include: Dassault Systèmes, Dell, GNS Systems, HP, IBM, Macrovision, Mentor Graphics, Nice, Novell, NTSI, RedIT, Science & Computing, Sophis, T-Systems and others.
"There is a growing demand in large organizations to increase server peak performance and overall utilization. To do this they are building grids and looking to manage server pools as virtual resources," said Martin Hingley, Group Vice President, European Systems Group, IDC. "There are a number of important challenges to address in this - largely - uncharted area. For instance, there is a clear need for infrastructure software which will provide orchestration between (what we can call) the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and the Service Oriented Infrastructure (SOI). At PEGC 2005 we will look at how enterprises can address these issues and harness the full potential of grid computing."
As the first and largest European conference focused exclusively on the use and evolution of grid technology within the enterprise, PEGC 2005 offers a unique opportunity for industry leaders to share and explore real-word grid computing experiences supporting mission critical applications. Key topics to be covered at PEGC 2005 include:
- Dynamic IT – the migration to service oriented infrastructures and architectures
- The evolution of grid computing - from HPC to enterprise IT and beyond
- The convergence of grid computing and virtualization
- First-hand customer experiences with grid computing from industry-leading global organizations
- The impact of enterprise grid on key industries
- Platform Computing’s roadmap to drive the continuing evolution of grid computing
"As grid computing reaches maturity in the HPC space, new opportunities are emerging to leverage this technology across enterprise IT and unify disparate software silos," said Dominique Comte, Vice President and General Manager, EMEA, Platform Computing. "At PEGC 2005 we will begin to break down the barriers for enterprise grid, and show organizations a better way to manage the growing IT chaos and resource requirements within their data center."
