Platform Computing To Preview New Study On Organizational Barriers To Grid At GGF7 In Tokyo, Japan, March 4-7 2003
Grid technology leader Platform Computing announced that it will be previewing preliminary study results on political barriers to Grid at the Global Grid Forum 7 'Global Grids Around The World' Conference and Expo in Tokyo, Japan, March 4-7, 2003. Conducted by a third-party survey firm, this study is the first to look at non-technical obstacles to Grid and incorporate insights from global Fortune 2000 enterprises using Grid technologies.
Platform's Ian Baird, Chief Business Architect, will preview the survey results during a special panel discussion on Tuesday, March 4, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. called "The State of Grids, Hype versus Reality". Hosted by Tom Tabor, publisher of GRIDtoday and HPCwire, the panel will feature Grid luminaries from around the world talking about how Grids really work today.
On Wednesday, March 5, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Baird will be moderating a panel entitled the "Business Impacts of Grids - Commercial Grid Use Now and in the Future", hosted by Robert Cohen, Fellow, Economic Strategy Institute. This panel explores how Grids affect the corporations using them and evaluates how they will impact early adopter industries. It will also assess how Grids may spur economic growth and drive the use of broadband communications. Panelists include several Platform partners and customers, including Cadence, IBM and Synopsys.
On Thursday, March 6, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Baird will participate in a panel called "Grids Today - What is Real Today?" Hosted by CH Hariharan, Vice President and Chief Architect, Novell and Charlie Catlett, GGF Chair, this panel will discuss real Grid implementations to explore other applications for Grid users and the technology.
In addition, Platform will comment on OGSA implementation activities that are currently underway in GGF and in the industry in a panel discussion called "OGSA Implementation Status and Experiences" hosted by Steve Tuecke, Argonne National Labs on Thursday, March 6, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
