Platform Computing Supports New Linux Ready Server Systems from IBM
Platform Computing announced availability of its Grid computing software solutions, including Platform HPC for IBM and Platform LSF, on Linux ready IBM eServer™ pSeries™ systems, lowering the cost for customers deploying the Linux® operating system on 64-bit processor technology. These eServer systems with the POWER4+ microprocessor are transforming the economics for midrange server customers by redefining the price/performance matrix; they are affordably priced without making any compromises on reliability or performance.
The IBM eServer p630 and eServer p650 offers pSeries configurations dedicated to Linux. They also supports AIX5L™, IBM's UNIX® operating system, and a combination of Linux and AIX5L in logical partitions.
Platform HPC for IBM is a Grid-enabled job management solution designed specifically for midrange to high-end distributed HPC clusters running on IBM eServer xSeries and pSeries systems. This out-of-the box offering maximizes the performance and capability of parallel workloads across AIX and Linux servers, enabling government, research, life sciences and manufacturing users complete compute-intensive tasks faster and more reliably at reduced costs. Platform LSF is the industry's premier solution for building Enterprise Grids, engineered for the most demanding, mission-critical environments. Built on a foundation of more than 10 years of distributed computing experience, LSF 5 has unprecedented scalability, performance and flexibility to help enterprises simplify the management of complex computational workloads.
"Platform Computing is pleased to support the IBM p650 Linux Express Configuration with our distributed and Grid computing software solutions, including Platform HPC for IBM and Platform LSF. The well-equipped p650 offering provides customers choosing Linux unique flexibility, power, and price/performance on a proven and cost effective platform," said Paul Hill, vice president, business development, Platform Computing.
Through the Linux Technology Center, IBM contributes key operating system features to the Linux community that can help improve flexibility, performance, scalability and reliability and bring Linux further into the enterprise. These open source features for use in Linux exploit eServer pSeries systems management, clustering, Internet services and security.
IBM is dedicated to Linux, the world's fastest growing operating system, and AIX, one of the fastest growing enterprise operating system with sophisticated functions including dynamic partitioning. IBM's support for Linux on IBM eServer pSeries systems is complementary to AIX and represents an unprecedented level of choice and integration for customers.
Platform Computing provides distributed and Grid computing solutions that help enterprises effectively connect, measure, manage and optimize their enterprise resources. Platform's integrated desktop to Grid software solutions are used by over 1,500 customers worldwide in the financial services, government, life sciences and manufacturing industries to deliver higher quality products and services, improve business performance and maximize the return on IT investments. Founded in 1992, Platform has strategic relationships with Apple, Dell, HP, IBM, SAS and SGI, and the industry’s broadest application integration support. For more information visit www.platform.com.
