Description

As a Sr. Product Manager, you will own and drive the inbound customer requirements and product/market definition for Grid computing infrastructure and management products. You will work closely with engineering and all relevant groups within the company during product development. You will also provide Marketing with the necessary outbound direction and content to build awareness and create demand. As the lead product evangelist for customers you will work closely with Sales, Marketing and Business Development to educate and promote our solutions to the various key audiences including Press, Analysts, Enterprise Customers, Channel Partners and Strategic/Technology Partners.


Key Responsibilities

Conduct Market Analysis

  • Establish target market and user segment priorities with marketing and sales leaders
  • Conduct product performance analysis.
  • Define market (customer/evaluator/prospect) requirements
  • Conduct competitive positioning analysis
  • Gather and analyze customer and market feedback
  • Monitor technology and market conditions for new opportunities and future product planning
  • Incorporate market insights into business case analyses
  • Support engineering by assisting with evaluation of product priorities and tradeoffs in developing product specifications and in development phase.
  • Lead communications related to emerging opportunities with the release team and marketing and sales leaders.

Create and Maintain the Product Business Plan for market penetration

  • ROI modeling
  • Pricing, licensing, packaging, etc.
  • Define core customer benefits and product differentiation (Value Proposition)
  • Work cross functionally to ensure company readiness to market, sell and support assigned products.
  • Provide content and support to sales operations to deliver effective product information and product-related sales training programs
  • Support marketing for execution of product marketing strategy
  • Support launch planning

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years experience with at least 4 years in enterprise/infrastructure software or large-scale systems product marketing or product management
  • Successfully launched and evangelized enterprise-class software products through channels, direct and OEM partnerships
  • Experience marketing or selling into new markets, i.e. taking products from the early adopter to mainstream market.
  • Candidates should have experience marketing software to both the IT and line-of-business sides of a customer.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate market and technology requirements as well as product capabilities.
  • Experience conducting global market opportunity analysis and business case development.
  • Knowledge of the enterprise infrastructure (.NET, J2EE, Web Services, RDBMS, OLAP, etc.) is also desirable.
  • Ability to negotiate, communicate and influence cross functionally and across project/programs.
  • Outstanding communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field with an MBA strongly preferred.
